About Us

Who We Are

The Sudanese Association of Greater Sacramento (SAGS) Sunday School is a nonprofit, community-driven school dedicated to connecting Sudanese-American children with their Islamic faith, Arabic language, and Sudanese heritage.

Our volunteer educators and administrators work together to nurture confident, respectful, and community-minded young citizens.

Our Story

SAGS Sunday School was born from a shared vision among devoted parents and community members who wanted to create a place where Sudanese-American children could feel a true sense of belonging — a place where their Sudanese heritage and American identity come together in harmony.

Through the dedication of our passionate team and the unwavering support of our community, that vision grew into a thriving school where our children learn, connect, and celebrate who they are.

Our Vision

To create a nurturing environment where Sudanese-American children feel a deep sense of belonging — embracing their Sudanese heritage and American identity with pride, confidence, and purpose.

Our Mission

To empower Sudanese-American youth through education in Arabic, Islamic studies, Sudanese heritage, and the arts — nurturing their faith, identity, and sense of community while inspiring them to become confident, values-driven citizens.

Suha was not raised in Sudan, but Sudan found her during her years at the University of Khartoum, where she developed a deep connection to its culture, people, and history. Her work with youth and community groups strengthened her belief in resilience, generosity, and the importance of identity.
